MUAY THAI SHORTS VS. BOXING SHORTS
Both boxing shorts and Muay Thai shorts feature lightweight, moisture wicking fabric, with a loose fit to allow for movement. But as boxing features punches, and not kicks and knees, traditional boxing shorts typically fall at or around the knee. Muay Thai and kickboxing shorts must allow for greater (ideally unrestricted movement) of the legs for kicks and knees. They are typically shorter (mid-thigh length) and feature a more aggressive side slit as to not impair kicks and knees. MUAY THAI SHORTS VS. KICKBOXING SHORTS
Muay Thai is the national sport of Thailand and is often referred to as the “art of 8 limbs” due to the 8 points of contact which are a feature of the sport – punches, kicks, knees and elbows (right and left side of the body). Kickboxing is very similar, but often features only 6 points of contact (no elbows). Popular in the Netherlands and Japan. Glory Kickboxing is an example of a professional kickboxing organization, and you’ll notice that there is some crossover with Muay Thai athletes from Thailand competing in Glory.
